B-VARC VE Examination Team

Each month, usually on the Second Tuesday, B-VARC 'Second Tuesday' Amatur Radio License Examination Session are held for license examination and/or upgrade purposes.

The current test fee is $15.00 -- we will take cash or check - check(s) made payable to ARRL-VEC. Pre-registration is encouraged, walk-in's will be accomodated.

Check in about 6:30 PM - exams start promptly at 7 PM. Parking is readily available in the rear lot -- Inquire at the 'front desk' for our room assignment. Cash Road intersects Murphy Road (FM 1092) at about the 13,500 block, between Greenbriar- Mula Road and the UPRR - US 90A crossings. Turn East on Cash Road; the community college building is on the *right* or south side of the street.

Identification -- Candidate must present a legal photo ID. This is usually a driver's license, but can be a passport or other legal identification with the candidate's photo on it. When no photo ID is available. the candidate must present any two of the following: Non-photo ID/driver's license Social Security Card Birth Certificate (must have the appropriate seal) Minor's work permit, school report card, school ID card or library card. Utility bill, bank statement or other business correspondence that specifically names that person, or Postmarked envelope addressed to the person at his or her mailing address as it appears on the Form 605

    B-VARC sponsored and administered the ARRL's Amateur Radio Examination
    session that was held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Greater Houston
    Hamfest held at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg, TX.
    We were joined by the Houston ECHO/K3FL exam team for the morning.

    Twenty four examination elements were administered during the evening to
    twenty three applicants. Nine new Technician class license, six upgrades
    to General class, and five upgrades to Amateur Extra were attained; with
    the total number of elements passed being 20. The overall "pass rate"
    for the evening was 83.33%.

    March 7, 2009 
    
    Thirty four examination elements were administered during
    the day to thirty three applicants. Fifteen new Technician licensed
    were attained, Nine upgrades to General class license were attained,
    and one 'grandfathered' upgrade to General, in addition to three
    upgrades to Amateur Extra; with the total number of elements passed
    being 27. The overall "pass rate" for the evening was 79.4%.
